On August 17th, Lancaster-based insurance broker Engle-Hambright & Davies, Inc. (EHD) held their 4th annual Cornhole Tournament to benefit Boys and Girls Club of Lancaster. Between the proceeds from the actual event and direct donations, the 2017 Cornhole Tournament raised just over $34,000.
Over the past four years, the tournament has raised over $75,000 to benefit local charities such as the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and the Community Action Program through insurance carrier sponsorships, team entrance fees and prize raffles.
EHD has committed to making Boys & Girls Club of Lancaster the beneficiary of this fundraiser for the next four years.
“The Boys & Girls Club serves approximately 2,500 kids in the Lancaster community each year, and we’re proud to support them. Helping those in need, particularly children, is a personal responsibility and also a core value for all of us who work here at EHD,” said Jon Miles, Chairman, President and CEO of EHD. EHD has committed $100,000 in support over the next four years to Boys & Girls Club of Lancaster to support the building of a state-of-the-art multi-sport youth development park and the renovation of a new Clubhouse facility in Southeast Lancaster.
“We’ve had a great relationship with EHD over the years, and it’s an honor for us to be the recipient of this four-year commitment and know that EHD’s leadership and employees think so highly of what we do,” said Karen Schloer, Boys & Girls Club of Lancaster CEO. “This funding is substantial and will go directly to support the new youth park and Clubhouse in the Southeast, and will have a positive impact on this community today, tomorrow, and in days to come.”
Over 225 people attended the event at EHD’s corporate office in the Greenfield Corporate Center at 3:30 PM, which also included food and ice cream trucks, a DJ, and over 20 prize raffles.
